Since I haven't blogged since JUNE, I'm sure I've forgotten some fun or cute events that happened in the last few weeks. So I'll focus on the big ones.
First of all, we made it through our week without daycare. My dad watched Romelie on Tuesday and Wednesday (thanks, Dad!), and then Romelie and I headed up to my mom and John's place for the weekend. My mom was scheduled to be on jury duty, so I didn't know if Romelie and I would be spending a lot of time on our own, so I looked up all the fun things to do in the area just in case. Luckily my mom was dismissed on her first day, so we did fun things together. We went swimming in a lake, which Romelie enjoyed. She sat in the shallowest part of the lake and played in the sand for 20-30 minutes. Good times. We went out to eat, went to storytime at the library, checked out some thrift stores (where I ran into someone I used to work with - Chris Kind, who was also the videographer at our wedding - small world!!), did some grilling, and watched a few movies at home. Nice and relaxing weekend.
We headed back on Saturday, July 4, but didn't go to see any fireworks. Romelie needed sleep more than she needed to be frightened by loud noises.
And then last Thursday (7/9), Diane flew in and Bronwyn, Shane, Torin, and Greta arrived! (Drove up from Texas, wowza.) We had a great time with the family in town. I had to work for part of the time, but Chason was able to take more time off, so we were able to do a lot in the five-day weekend. The weather was perfect, so we spent a lot of time in the backyard. Greta and Romelie got along really well for the first time, too! In the past, Greta has tried to hug Romelie or play with her toys or something, and Romelie (who you probably know by now can be pretty sensitive) would cry. Well, they were giving each other hugs and kisses - occasionally prompted by the adults since it's adorable when babies give each other sugar! - and sharing nicely. Greta was even helping out by feeding Romelie. Too cute.
We also got to see some sights with everyone. We went to see Lauren's new show at the Brave New Workshop (thanks for the tix, Lauren!) and went out for drinks afterwards. We went to the Walker and to the sculpture garden (everyone requisite Minneapolis photo op). We had a picnic on the lake, went to The Bakken for a mini-tour, went swimming, had Sebastian Joe's ice cream, and went to the best kids' bookstore, Wild Rumpus (where Romelie took every single stuffed animal off of it's shelf and stacked them up on a chair). Kevin came over on Thursday night and my dad came over for dinner on Sunday night, so we got to visit with other friends and family members. Greta, Bronwyn, and Diane joined Romelie and me for our Saturday morning music lessons. And eight people shared one bathroom! All in all, it was a fun weekend :) Unfortunately, Romelie did get pinkeye on Friday (not sure exactly from where), but we got a prescription right away and as far as I know, no one else got it. Which is a small miracle considering our family's track record for passing on illnesses during vacations.
Now we're back to our regular schedule. Romelie's back in daycare, Chason and I are back to work (I'm SUPER busy at The Bakken between summer camp and our new energy programs that go out on MONDAY! Eek...). But in general everyone's doing well. And it looks like we might get to see Paul and Carrie in Wisconsin next month, and then Steve and Angel are planning to come up to Mpls for Labor Day weekend. Yay for spending time with family :)

Danni and Chason you were such wonderful hosts and we really had an amazing time and did so much. Chason really knows how to marinate a steak for the grill and that was a treat. We loved hanging out in the back yard just watching the kids and visiting.
Danni you forgot to mention our Sunday Morning at church with the girls! What a time we had! Love you all! Diane
